The Turbografx-16 version of the PC Engine game Magical Chase received a major graphical overhaul for some reason. We can only speculate as to why and by whom, but here you can see exactly what has changed.

The intro screen and ending screens of the Turbografx-16 version have omitted Palsoft but do not feature TTI's or any other publisher's name. This makes it all the more likely that Quest made all the revisions themselves. However, it still doesn't explain why, unless Quest themselves were the ones to bring Magical Chase to the U.S., either independantly or in partnership with TTI.

The plain low-color title screen logo from the PC Engine version has been completely re-shaded with a zooming golden 3D design and shiny lettering.

The first Stage received the biggest overhaul. The colored building blocks foreground and mid-background have been replaced by a more detailed medieval castle and the furtherst background now features a distant sunset and a more shaded green country side. The new mid-background also reveals more of the furthest background.

The very first enemy in the game has gone from a simple colored block/stump to a little animated gremlin.

Ripple has been completely redrawn slightly more realistically and is more detailed. She has a new animation when hurt, but her injured animation when the game is paused remains the same, except for the redrawn broom(to match her other new frames) and the now missing magic wand. Her regular sleeping game-pause animation is also mainly unchanged, but again, her old brown broom has been replaced with the new realistic one.

Jack's floating Shop has also been completely redrawn. Once a simple straight-on side view of a hot-air balloon carrying a small house, it now sports a beautifully drawn jack-o-lantern balloon and detailed house, all in a 3/4 perspective.

Below you can view screenshots featuring all of these new additions.
